Cucumber Lime Refresher + Frozen Cucumber Watermelon Dog Treats

This cucumber lime refresher is crisp, cooling, and easy to put together on a warm day. I paired mine with simple frozen cucumber watermelon dog treats for Poppy—one for me and one for her!

Ingredients

  • 4 cucumber slices
  • 4 fresh mint leaves
  • ¾ ounce fresh lime juice
  • ½ ounce simple syrup
  • 3 ounces club soda
  • Ice
  • Cucumber ribbon and fresh mint sprig for garnish, optional

Instructions

  1. Add the cucumber slices, mint leaves, lime juice, and simple syrup to a copper mule mug or cocktail shaker.
  2. Muddle gently until the cucumber releases its juice and the mint becomes fragrant.
  3. Fill the mug with ice and stir until chilled.
  4. Top with club soda.
  5. Garnish with a cucumber ribbon and mint sprig, if desired.

Cocktail Option

For a cocktail version, add 1½ ounces vodka to the shaker before adding the ice. Follow the remaining directions as written, then use ginger beer to top the drink.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup seedless watermelon, with the rind removed
  • ½ cup peeled cucumber

Instructions

  1. Add the cucumber and watermelon to a blender.
  2. Blend until completely smooth.
  3. Spoon or pour the mixture into silicone bone or paw molds.
  4. Freeze until completely firm, about 3 to 4 hours.
  5. Remove the treats from the molds and store them in a freezer-safe container.

Serve in a portion appropriate for your dog.

Poppy’s Verdict

I added about 10 plain baby spinach leaves to the batch shown in our TikTok so the treats would turn bright green and match my cucumber-lime drink. They looked perfect, but Poppy took one bite and promptly spit it out! The cucumber-watermelon recipe above leaves out the spinach for a milder, fruitier treat.

Dog-Safety Note

Use seedless watermelon and remove every bit of rind before blending. Peel the cucumber. Introduce new ingredients in a small amount and ask your veterinarian about individual dietary concerns. Treats should be offered occasionally and are not a complete meal.
